Marshall Land Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Ottawa, ON. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Systems Engineering, this role is responsible to support the business by executing systems engineering practices that contribute to the performance, reliability, and scalability of Marshall Land Systems products and solutions.
Your responsibilities in the role:
Lead systems engineering activities to meet business, program, and project demands including:
- Developing and maintaining systems engineering management plans.
- System Architecture Definition – develop, design and optimize system architecture, including the identification and integration of subsystems.
- Interface management – define system, subsystem, and component interfaces ensuring alignment with requirements.
- Size, Weight and Power Management – define, monitor, and manage the system SWAP constraints. Ensure systems meet all SWAP constraints while maintaining compliance with performance, cost and functional requirements.
- Requirements Management – support the management of customer and system level requirements in a requirements management system. Create evidence items to develop and maintain a verification strategy for all requirements for product development and production.
- Cost Management – collaborate with project management to define system cost constraints. Collaborate with engineering function leads to develop cost reduction strategies and manage the system/subsystem cost margin relative to the cost requirements and allocations.
- Documentation – Create and maintain system design documents and verification plans to maintain traceability between the system design and requirements.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork – Work with cross functional teams to ensure system integration and alignment with project requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Apply if you have most of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 systems engineering experience.
- Currently hold, or eligible to apply for, Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license.
- INCOSE certification or equivalent is an asset.
- Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or healthcare is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Experience executing engineering projects through the systems engineering life-cycle (v-model).
- Experience using DOORs or other requirements management systems.
- Experience working with SharePoint as a platform for engineering development/tools.
- Intermediate to advanced excel user (experience with VBA is considered an asset).
Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
