The House of Commons’ Digital Service and Real Property team is currently looking to staff the Senior Systems Technician, Audiovisual Event Support position.
This position is full time on site five (5) days per week.
As a Senior Systems Technician, you will provide advanced operational support for audiovisual and broadcast systems used in parliamentary activities across the Parliamentary Precinct. Working in live production environments, you will ensure system readiness, lead complex and time sensitive troubleshooting, and provide Tier 2 support and escalation for operational incidents. You will mentor technicians, support critical operational decision making during live events, and serve as a key technical resource for client interactions and high-profile proceedings. Senior Systems Technicians also contribute to projects, system improvements, and lifecycle activities in collaboration with engineering, product line, and IT partners responsible for system design and security.
In this role, you will work with complex audiovisual and multimedia distribution environments, including audio, video, broadcast, webcast, videoconference, and multimedia control systems that support parliamentary proceedings and institutional operations. You will support the deployment of system components and contribute to the integration of new technologies within the digital media infrastructure.
You will also contribute technical expertise to system upgrades and project activities, working with engineering and technical partners to support the evolution of audiovisual capabilities across the Parliamentary Precinct. You will analyze system performance and lifecycle practices for multimedia infrastructure, recommending improvements that strengthen reliability and long-term service delivery.
As part of the position, you must be willing to work weekends, shift work, early morning, daytime, and late evening shifts, and potentially be on call/overtime on short notice.
